Antenatal Care

Provided by midwives from Hinchingbrooke Hospital. They are based at Children’s Centre, Chatteris (01354 697739). Booking clinic Monday mornings and follow up clinic Fridays all by appointment.   The 6 week postnatal check of baby and mother is carried out by the GP and you will receive appointment for this in the post from the surgery.

Contraception/ Family Planning

We provide contraceptive advice including the use of long acting methods like the coil, contraceptive injection and implant.

We offer advice on all types of contraception Urgent appointments are always available for emergency contraception. The “morning after” pill can be taken up to 72 hours after unprotected intercourse, but is much more effective in the first 24 hours. We can refer you to other teams who can fit coils, implants or carry out vasectomies.

Minor Surgery

Excision of lumps and minor skin lesions, toe nail removal, joint and soft tissue injections are carried out by Dr Hambling and Dr Mather.

Cervical Smears

Invitations will be sent to women due a smear. We leave it to you to make an appointment at any time when you are not on your period. The new liquid based cytology technique does not require mid-cycle timing. All smear results are sent by post as soon as they are available.

Minor Illnesses

Many conditions get better on their own and can be treated successfully at home. The pharmacist may be able to help you with these and advise about medicines you can buy over the counter. We also have a very useful booklet on minor illnesses which is available on request.
